SCRIPT1: Blog #11

 Good morning!

So I wanted to create a script outline to help motivate my direction with my film. I’m planning on using some of the scenes I write as apart of the trailer.

I also wanted to use the script to help readers get a better understanding of how the writing is playing out. I’ve dedicated this week and all three of my blog posts to sharing what I have so far with you. I’m planning on writing 10 pages. Here are my first 2.

COPYRIGHT: Blog #10

So, I have reached out to the company who owns the rights to the song. I am waiting to hear back from them, but I will keep you all updated with the response process. I might reach out again in about a week if I don’t hear anything.

THE SOUND OF MUSIC: Blog #9

 How’s it going!?

So, yes I think I have selected my song of choice for trailer #1. I am debating to either have the same song in both of my trailers and then have the different voiceovers or if I should do a different song for each. I wanted to hear a song and fall in love with it, not convince myself to fall in love with a song just so it fits in my trailer. With that being said, my song selection for my first trailer is going to be Ofdream - Thelema (slowed and reverb)!

My next blog will include my email asking for the copyrights to using this specific track.

WEEK 3 SCHEDULE: Blog #8

Goodmorning!

It seems I need some more structure to my project because I keep finding myself laying in bed and thinking of all these great things but then forgetting to do it or just plainly keeping them as thoughts so....

MONDAY- I’m going to go through music selections. Since I’m planning on having voiceovers over the music, the song can be more instrumental. If I need to send an email for the copyright of a song this will also be done tomorrow. Oh, and also blog this for blog 1 of the week.

TUESDAY- I’m going to begin writing the voiceovers. The way I want to layout my trailers is that they are both the same shots and sequence, just one of them is through Taylor’s eyes and the other through Miles. Corresponding with that will be the matching voiceovers from each character. I will probably complete one voiceover for sure and potentially write the second one Wednesday. This will be blogged for blog 2 of the week.

WEDNESDAY- Complete the second voiceover. Add it as blog 3 for the week.

THURSDAY- To be honest I’m not sure exactly what to do on Thursday. This weeks focus is the sound and voiceovers so depending how that goes we will see if Thursdays blog needs to be also about sound or if we’re ready to move on to something else. Playing it all by ear.

See you in Week3!

TITLE: Blog #7

Okay so let’s get to it because this can make or break a piece.

I went through a couple title options for the film..

- It takes 2

- Goodnight sweetheart

- Wake up

- By your side

- All in your head

I wanted the title to be something that you hear and can talk about and say oh did you watch ______ and it sounds professional and mysterious. I was trying to imagine what the film could look like and then imagine what title stitched along to that would sound best. With all of that being said, I decided on Goodnight Sweetheart.

CAMERA: Blog #6

 Goodmorning Everyone!

Let’s talk about cameras shall we. After going back and forth between a couple camera options, I came to the conclusion that my phone will be the most reliable way to film. I just got the iPhone 12 Pro Max and the camera on this thing is phenomenal.

I am super excited to see how all the shots end up looking and overall how high quality the new phone lens.

I’ve been doing some test shots here and there, I invested in a tripod, and might be grabbing a gimble if it’s necessary. With time we shall see.

Peace out!

POSTER: Blog #5

 Happy Thursday everyone!

So part of my project requires a film poster that will be used to help market the short film I have created. This poster is something I faced a lot of trial and errors with, but eventually was able to tweak a few details here and there to create something I’m really confident in.

I want the poster to be a medium shot, Miles body is facing the camera while Taylor’s is facing Miles. She is holding on to him by the back of his neck with her head against his shoulder. I want the symbolism to be how she is his support system and the role she takes on as the script progresses. Miles will be facing her but with his eyes closed and slightly faced downwards.

The color scheme is not definite yet because I want to have a few options and see how each one picks up the color after seeing it and deciding on the editing of the poster. But for now this is what I’ve been brainstorming!!!
